The last two blocks

Now the last two blocks are finished. The rest of the work is to put all the blocks together in a nice way, and put on some boarding and batting and......
I hope it will be totaly finished during next week, before we have our winter holiday.

I have a lot of prosject I want to start with, and some of them will be prepared as holiday work. Now I need some small and easy work.

2 more blocks finished

This week there has only been finished 2 blocks for the quilt. I had planned to finish 4, which is the rest of the blocks, but it is not always that it works out as planned.

I have also sewn som squares that I am going to use as filling between the block. They just have to get the right size before I can use them.

I hope I can manage the rest of the quilt this week so I can deliver it for quilting very soon.

This weekend we have been in our caravan. We haven't been there since October/November, and it felt good to drive out of the city for a few days.

The weather was nice, but it was cold and windy. But with warm clothes it is no problem. The children were having av great time together, and were running skis and slegde downhill.



We look forward to the spring, when we can use the boat and go fishing at the sea. We think it will be many beautiful days and weekends during April to October.

6 blocks finished

No I have finished 6 of 10 blocks for the big grandma quilt. Some has been easy to make, and others has taken more time.
I have used stithery at all blocks, and also colourpencils at some of them. I was not so happy about that, because I think it didn't turn out the way I thought it should.
I have to try it a bit more before I make up my mind about that.

You can see that the motives are quit different. Everyone of the grandchildren should make their own drawing, and the age of the children are from 4 years old up to 22 years old.

I still have 4 blocks left. But I think I will manage it at the end of the week. I am going to have a lady with a big quiltingmachine do the quilting for me. I have bought woolbatting to put inside, so it is going to be a really warm quilt. It will be nice to have in cold winterdays.

I also have to make some small blocks to fill in between some of the drawingblocks to get the right size on the quilt. I have cut it all, som it is just the sewing left.

There is not so much time to visit other bloggers now, because I have the focus on this quilt. I hope understand that, som I wish you all a very nice week.

Bruk av stofflageret

Idag har vært et guffent vær ute, så det har stort sett vært inneaktiviteter. Den siste uka har jeg stort sett holdt på med håndsøm, og inspirert av MaritaBK sin stoffslanking fikk jeg idag lyst til å bruke symaskinen.

It has been a bad weather today, and it was nice to stay inside with my sewingmachine. Inspired by MaritaBKs fabric diet, I desided to use some flanell I just had been moving around the last years.

Jeg hadde noen flanellstoffer som jeg var litt lei av å flytte på, og fant ut at jeg skulle lage en topp til et slumreteppe av disse.

Jeg valgte meg 6 ulike stoffer, og skar hver av dem i 3" brede striper. Beholdt hele stoffbredden på stripene. Et av hver av stoffene i hvert stripesett. Fikk tilsammen 3 stk. + 1 remse av hvert stoff som var 2,5" bred. Disse blir gjemt til en senere anledning. Deretter sydde jeg et stripesett av disse.

I choosed 6 fabric pieces and cut each in stripes 3", and I used the hole width. I sew 6 stripes together, one from each fabric. Then i cut this in 6" stripes. Of all the fabric I got 18 new stripes. I used 16 and I sew 4 and 4 together.

Hvert stripesett ble skåret i 6" brede striper. Det ble tilsammen 18 slike stripeblokker. Jeg sydde sammen 4 slike blokker til en remse. Tilsammen 4 remser. 2 blokker ble lagt til side sammen med de stripene som ikke ble brukt.

Som fyll mellom stripesettet hadde jeg noe limegrønt flanell som jeg valgte å bruke. Dette skar jeg i 6" brede striper på lengden slik at jeg slapp skjøter i stripene.

Den ferdige toppen ble slik. Mål ca. 130 x 180 cm. Denne er nå lagt til side fordi jeg bestemte meg for at dette skulle bli en UFO allerede før jeg startet.

I put lime flanell betwenn the stripes and as boarder. The size is the same as on the stripes, 6". Completed size on the top is about 52" x 72".

Diverse smått og stort

I det siste har jeg bare holdt på med litt småtteri, samtidig som jeg har planlagt og klargjort et noe større prosjekt. Småtteriet består av disse myntpungene som det var mønster til i QM nr. 5/07. Jeg har brukt restestoffer, og prøvde meg først på originalmønsteret.

Jeg likte ikke helt fasongen og størrelsen, og tegnet om mønsteret. Da sydde jeg de to sorte, og denne modellen ble betydelig bedre, en passelig størrelse for lomma osv.

Brilleetuiet mitt var gått i stykker, og jeg prøvde meg på et brilleetui etter modell av denne myntpungen. Det fungerer greit, og det originale etuiet gikk i søpla da henglene var helt ødelagt.

In this post I will write in english to explain the next pictures. My mother is going to be 70 years old in the beginning of April. I know that she use her laptop at the internet, but I don't know if she is here around in my blog for looking. But one thing I am shore about, is that she doesn't read and speak english. So then I can write in english about this.

She is going to celebrate the birthday with a lot of relatives and friends. Her 4 children, thought that it was difficult to find her a nice present, but we have agreed about someting. Then it is her 10 grandchildren, what should we buy from them?

I had this beautiful fabric from Katrines Quiltestue in Oslo, 13 fat quarters, in lovely colours and flowers. I wanted to use them for a gift for her in a quilt she could use when she was sleeping after dinner, and my brother and sisters were trilled about the idea. Every one of the grandchildren should make a drawing for their grandmother, and then I should transfere it to the fabric. I had to buy some fabric to the bordres, and the back of the quilt, but that is all.

now I have finished the transfering at 7 blocks. The last 3 drawings I have not received yet, but I think it will come during this week. I have started the stitching on the drawing from the youngest grandchild. I think the work will be just nice.

This evening I had to make me a bag for all the blocks, so it wouldn't be dusty until it is finished.

I will try to show you the blocks bit by bit until the quilt is finished. And so I hope you'll understand my english, it is a long time since I have written it. I find it a bit difficult because I have forgotten a lot of the word.
